Sun, Sand, Sea and Spree (Goa Trip )
Exam had just come to an end and what better way to get into the holiday mood than to take a trip all the way to Goa along with school friends, amidst the striking beauty of the sun-kissed beaches and the sun in many layered shades of blue.
We stepped at the airport with élan, filled with euphoria and that’s when our five day journey began to unwind. We reached Mumbai absolutely unaware that the few hours we’d be spending there could be equally enthralling. By afternoon we were at Goa. On our way to the hotel, it was all calm and quiet and we had just started to sink in the startling beauty of Goa. This short rendezvous with Goa, as we drove past the lush green fields and over the Mandovi River, made me realize that even on roads Goa is so beautiful and every bit of Goa can take your breath away.
We checked in the hotel, had our lunch, took a quick nap and by the evening we were all frolicking at the Calangute beach. At the Calangute beach we clicked snaps and watched the sundown.
Day two held some activities for all of us. After the breakfast, we hit the Calangute beach again. It was time for us to get adventurous. We donned the life – jackets and let our venturesome side away as we tried the water rides one by one – the motor boat, the bumper ride, the banana ride and then paragliding. Paragliding was the best of the crème de la crème experience of water sports. For those who did not go for water sports it may not have been adventurous but it was blissful – letting the water wash over feet and the feel of the sand sliding from beneath the slippery feet. We were so lost that when it was time for us to head back to the hotel we had to heave ourselves. We came back all tanned but every bit of it was worth. That very evening we went for shopping, since we could not get our hands on anything so called ‘goan’ we returned early.
The next day was meant for sightseeing. We visited the Mangesh temple, St. Francis Xavier church and se cathedral. In there it was incredibly serene. Aguada fort is another site that overlooks the Arabian Sea. The view from up there was picturesque and immensely spectacular. We were then informed of the DJ party organized at the pool side. All hands were up in the air with joy and we really had a blast that night.
Day four, we made our way to the beaches. We first visited the much- filmed and photographed Vagator beach, that was so scenic, ideal for the smile-please moments. Anjuna beach known for its trance parties and flea market has its own charm but Baga beach is where we finally got our final chance to romp and splash in the sea. It was so much fun that when it was time to get back we had to be motioned. But this wasn’t the end. So, after a small shopping spree at Panaji, we went for the final bash at the cruise where we sang loudly and danced really hard. The last night at Goa had finally came to an end. The memories ot the time we spent with all the friends and teachers will never tarnish. All said and done, we reached Indore, but the oomph had not yet faded away. It was time to share our experiences with people back home. With the ongoing festive season, it was easy for us to get along otherwise return from such a trip generally creates a hollow. Nevertheless, it was an unforgettable tour.

One day adventure camp - Night Stay
Queens College organised a Night Stay programme for the students of classes IX to XII on October 22, 2011. The motto of this mega event was to develop in our Queens a sense of adventure, enjoying learning through entertainment and adding value to life. The idea was to provide the students with the best of every minute, that a child could learn in the school campus. A platform was given to the students to show their hidden talents, flourish their ideas and thoughts, develop self confidence, self esteem, learn to work in team and honesty moving ahead to reach the highest crest of success in all the games. A plethora of activities were organized like draping a saree, make up, hair style, cat walk, puzzle round, mystery solving round, adventure fun and tent pitching. All these activities taught to students to work in group co-ordinate with each other, manage things on their own and help each other to complete the mission together with all the team members.
The mentors of queens always believe in meaningful learning. The strong innovative ideas of our young and vibrant faculty members made the programme interesting and enjoyable for all. It was good to observe the creative scope of the students. A D.J. Party was a part of the programme with camp fire and sumptuous dinner. The "Night Out" was organised under the able guidance of Mrs. Geetha Somashekharan. We look forward for more events in the picture.

Health Awareness Session by Swami Suryendraji
For the development of a healthy persona, Swami Suryendra, a software engineer in the past and a spiritualist now, gave a few practical tips to the Queens on October 10, 2011 to improve their lifestyle. He demonstrated the appropriate postures of sitting, standing and walking. He told the students that their backbones should be straight in all the three postures. The distance between their feet should be equal to the width of their shoulders while standing. He warned the young Queens about the ill effects of overeating and eating every now and then. But, at the same time, he taught us the advantages of eating limited food at the right time. He also taught us how to energize the brain by clapping in a particular way. In this way, the students of classes VII to X benefited from the session. It was a good beginning after the Dusshera break.
